FAQ
Questions before you run a plan
Is PayoffPlan a debt payoff calculator?
Yes. It estimates months to payoff, interest paid, and a schedule for one or more debts when you set a monthly budget.
Can I use it as a credit card payoff calculator?
Yes. Add each card as its own row with statement balance, purchase APR, and minimum. Mix in other installment debts if they share the same monthly budget.
What is the difference between avalanche and snowball?
Avalanche sends extra payments to the highest APR. Snowball sends extra payments to the smallest balance. Both keep minimums on the other debts.
Do you store my balances on a server?
No. There is no backend. Numbers stay in this browser unless you copy a plan link yourself.
Why does my plan say it never pays off?
Monthly interest is larger than the cash you can apply, or the plan would take more than 50 years. Increase the budget or check the APR and balance.
Is this credit or debt advice?
No. PayoffPlan is an educational calculator. It does not consider your credit report, hardship options, or legal rights. Talk to a qualified professional before you change payments.
Will my real lender match these numbers?
Often it will be close, not exact. Issuers may use daily interest, changing minimums, or promo rates. Use your statement as the source of truth.
What if my budget is below the combined minimums?
The calculator still runs and warns you. In real life, missing a minimum can add fees and penalty APRs that this tool does not model.
